Palm Bay is the biggest city in Brevard, and a busy one for termites. This page shows what we treat here from our own service records, plus what the Census says about Palm Bay homes.
Palm Bay at a glance
Shading shows how many homes we look after in each ZIP code. No home or street is shown.
The area
Palm Bay grew fast and in pieces. Large parts of the city were laid out decades ago as thousands of lots, and many of those lots are still wooded or empty today. So a lot of Palm Bay homes sit right next to scrub, pine and palmetto, with stumps and buried wood in the ground nearby.
That matters for termites. Subterranean termites live in the soil and feed on buried wood. When a neighborhood has plenty of it, homes next door get more visits. About 40% of homes in these ZIP codes were built in 2000 or later, and about 13% before 1980, so the mix runs from older Port Malabar streets to brand new builds.
Local tips and warnings
About 50% of the Palm Bay homes we look after have termite work or a termite bond. That is about 2 times the rate we see across Brevard. In northeast Palm Bay (32905) it is about 70%.
Florida requires termite protection when a new home is built, but that treatment and its warranty do not last forever. If your Palm Bay home is 5 to 25 years old and nobody has treated it since the builder, it is probably unprotected now. Our trench and treat barrier comes with a 10 year termite bond.
Winged termites inside, or piles of small wings on window sills, usually mean a colony nearby. Native subterranean termites swarm in daylight in late winter and spring. Formosan termites swarm on warm evenings in late spring and early summer and fly to lights. Save a few in a bag and call us.
Keep a gap between your house and the tree line, do not stack wood or lumber against the walls, and pull stumps near the slab if you can. Those are termite food sitting a few feet from your home.
Pest calendar
Our busiest months for everyday pests are August and September, when the summer rains drive ants and roaches indoors. Rodent work climbs through the summer and peaks in August. Termites swarm in two waves: native subterranean termites in daylight from late winter into spring, and Formosan termites on warm evenings in late spring and early summer.

The homes
Older homes tend to have more gaps for pests to use and less termite protection left. Newer homes often still trust a builder's termite treatment that has already worn off. Here is how the housing breaks down, from the US Census.

In our records, yes. About 50% of the Palm Bay homes we look after have termite work or a termite bond, compared with about 25% across Brevard County.
New homes get a termite treatment during construction, but it wears off and builder warranties are short. Ask your builder when yours ends. When it does, a trench and treat barrier with a 10 year bond keeps the home covered.
About these numbers. Our figures come from Gator Pest Control's own service records from 2024 on. We count homes, not visits, and round them. Any group under 5 homes is left out, and no customer, street or job is ever shown. Housing figures are from the US Census Bureau, ACS 2024 5-year American Community Survey. ZIP outlines are Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas. Termite swarm timing follows University of Florida IFAS extension guidance.
