The area

Pests and homes in Rockledge

Rockledge is one of the oldest towns in the county, with homes along the Indian River under big live oaks. ZIP 32955 also takes in newer neighborhoods to the south and west, out toward Viera. So about 27% of homes here are from before 1980, and about 42% from 2000 or later.

Shade, old trees and moist soil near the river are good for termites and roaches. The newer areas bring the usual new build issues: termite treatments that have worn off and rodents pushed out by construction.

Local tips and warnings

What Rockledge homeowners should know

Termites: about 1.5 times the county rate

About 40% of the Rockledge homes we look after have termite work or a termite bond. Across Brevard it is about 25%.

Big oaks, big moisture

Shady yards stay damp. Keep gutters clear, fix leaks near the foundation, and pull mulch back a few inches from the walls. Damp soil against the slab is what subterranean termites look for.

Old wood, new problems

Older homes can have wood in contact with soil: porch posts, steps, fence boards against the house. Each one is a termite bridge. Replace or lift them.

Pest calendar

When pests show up in Brevard

Our busiest months for everyday pests are August and September, when the summer rains drive ants and roaches indoors. Rodent work climbs through the summer and peaks in August. Termites swarm in two waves: native subterranean termites in daylight from late winter into spring, and Formosan termites on warm evenings in late spring and early summer.

Everyday pest visitsRodent visits

Our visits by month, all of Brevard County. Each line is scaled to its own busiest month.

The homes

Rockledge homes by ZIP code

Older homes tend to have more gaps for pests to use and less termite protection left. Newer homes often still trust a builder's termite treatment that has already worn off. Here is how the housing breaks down, from the US Census.

Questions

Pest control in Rockledge: common questions

Do you serve Rockledge?

Yes. Rockledge and the rest of 32955 are on our regular routes, along with Cocoa and Viera next door.

Are termites a problem in Rockledge?

In our records, more than average. About 40% of the Rockledge homes we look after have termite work or a bond, compared with about 25% county wide.

How do I know if I have termites?

Look for mud tubes on the foundation, winged swarmers or piles of wings inside, or wood that sounds hollow. Or call for a free inspection.

About these numbers. Our figures come from Gator Pest Control's own service records from 2024 on. We count homes, not visits, and round them. Any group under 5 homes is left out, and no customer, street or job is ever shown. Housing figures are from the US Census Bureau, ACS 2024 5-year American Community Survey. ZIP outlines are Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas. Termite swarm timing follows University of Florida IFAS extension guidance.
